E.O. Abraham, Elenjickal
Mr. Abraham is born born and brought up at Alappuzha, Kerala, South India. He belongs to ‘Elenjickal’ an aristocratic catholic Family in Alappuzha. He is married to Mrs. M.C. Kathri, Moonnumackal, a member od an ancient family at Palai. They have two sons Tom and Shyam.
Tom Abrham: is an Agriculture Graduate and he is employed at Dubai, UAE. He is married to Mrs.Anita Vadukkoot. She is a member of an ancient Catholic family at Trichur. They have a female child, ‘Priya’, who is 9th grade student at Dubai.
Shyam Abraham: is a graduate in pharmacy and he is employed at Baltimore, USA. He is married to Mrs. Suma a BSc Nurse employed in USA. They have a son named Aby Shyam Abraham, studying in VI grade.
Family
E.O.Abraham(Career): he is a promonent educationist. In Addition to that, a well known literary figure in Malayalam. He is in the teaching profession for the last 40 years. The Govt. of Kerala had conferred upon him the ‘State Award’ for the Secondary School Teachers.
Literary Field:Mr. Abraham is a playwright in Malayalam. He has two well known plays to his credit, ‘Kalayum Kannerum’ and ‘Manushyarum Kinakkalum’. Both the plays are acted in ever so many stages in Kerala. He has written a good number of one act plays meant for children. Many of these plays are broadcast from ‘All India Radio’ Trivandrum Station. He is a very good translator. He has translated the book “ China and Soviet Russia” from English to Malayalam, which is published by the American Information Service at Chennai. He has written ever so many articles in the prominent dailies and weeklies of kerala. He is an impressive speaker. He has given talks on several subjects in A.I.R Very often he is invited as a speaker in Public meetings in connection with the activities of educational institutions and literary organisations. He is a talented actor.
Educational Activities:He had been the Principal of Carmel Academy English Medium Higher Secondary school for a period of five years. Afterwards he became the principal of S.S.English Medium School (C.B.S.E) for eight years. While he was the principal of the above said schools, he was doing yeoman service as Administrator of Jawahar Bal-Bhavan, Alappuzha, which is an after school activity with the intention of developing the histrionic talents of children. Character formation and all round development of children, are the aims of this institution, where the students are taught Music, Dance, Drama, Musical Instruments and so on.
About the novel ‘On the banks of Blue Nile’:
This is a touching novel in the back ground of ‘River Blue Nile’. The novelist had the fortune to work here for a period of three years and he could study a lot about the culture and civilisation of this country. The novel has its locale in Kerala and in Ethiopia. The characters are Ethiopians, Americans and the people of kerala. The novel deals with human passions, tensions, and emotions.
